Transitioning to the New CPA Professional Program

While we anticipate that most candidates currently enrolled in CPA PEP will have an opportunity to finish the program, there is a transition plan to the new CPA Professional Program for those who are eligible and unable to complete the current program by December 20281.

CPA PEP modules and exams you have passed along with practical experience that has been approved by CPA Ontario will be recognized in the new program.

How does transitioning work?

  • There will be a 24-month transition period from January 2027 to December 2028. If you are eligible, you can switch your education, experience, or both to the CPA Professional Program.
  • If you transition your education, CPA PEP modules or exams that you successfully complete will count towards exemptions in the new CPA Professional Program. However, anyone who transitions to the new CPA professional program must, at a minimum, complete the Professional Readiness module and the Professional Final Exam III.
  • If you transition your Practical Experience, any experience which has been approved by CPA Ontario will be considered for recognition.
